Considerations For Cost-Effective Air Conditioner Service In Fresno

Considerations For AC Maintenance and Cost-Effective Service

It’s winter and everything is frozen, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you shouldn’t concern yourself with finding a cost-effective service ahead of time, even before the summer season can heat the earth. Better be prepared than lost when summer becomes too unbearable. You probably want to know what AC maintenance cost is?

Though it is best to prepare beforehand, HVAC experts don’t necessarily advise consumers to buy during winter (even with the promotions and discounts), in fact, you can buy a new ac unit anytime, whenever there is a need for it.

When you are in need of an immediate solution, you are second guessing which air conditioning service provider in Fresno will suit your needs, it is best to check out these helpful pointers to make the selection a bit easier for you and your budget.

How much does it cost to service an AC unit?

With the right fit and the match for your heating and cooling needs, future air conditioning service may not be a frequent concern for you.

The Kind of Service You Actually Need

Air conditioning systems are categorically divided into two: whole-house type and split type. A whole-house type is commonly known as the duct system where ducts are systematically installed all over the house so cool air can be evenly distributed in areas where cooling is needed, which are connected to one centralized unit.

A split type comes in many forms and its’ area coverage is limited. The following are technical classification of a spit-type AC unit. Taken from the Looking for a built-in air conditioner? article, these are the technical classifications:

A split-system

This type of AC consists of a compressor unit that’s installed outside, and one or more indoor outlets. They’re usually used to cool one or more rooms, or an open-plan area, of up to 60 square metres.

Inverter technology

With conventional air conditioning system, the compressor is either on (working to 100% capacity) or off. Inverters can vary the compressor speed and maintain the set temperature within a narrow range. They are generally more efficient and can cost less to run, although a good conventional model can still be cost-effective.

Cooling-only or reverse-cycle

Reverse-cycle models don’t cost much more than cooling-only models and can be used for heating in winter. While the purchase and installation costs can be high, reverse-cycle air conditioners are actually among the cheapest and most effective forms of heating for large spaces. They cause less carbon dioxide to be produced in power plants burning fossil fuel than other kinds of electric heaters.

Wall/window

These models are usually installed in a window or external wall and can cool rooms and open-plan areas of up to 50 square meters. Smaller units can be plugged into a normal power point; larger ones may require additional wiring. We don’t currently include these models in our tests, because there are fewer on the market now, as split-systems are more efficient and have become more affordable in recent years.

By knowing which type matches your need, you can then move on to finding the size appropriate for your house or the rooms in your house that needs the California air conditioning.

The Right Sized AC Unit

Experts say, it is important to accurately calculate the required cooling and heating capacity of your new AC unit, before even considering its price and features. As a general rule, 20 British thermal unit (Btu) is needed per square foot of space.

But don’t limit the AC size on the total area alone, you must also consider to give allowance to other variations such as the height of the ceiling or where the unit will be placed. Read another blog post here on living without air conditioning– and why you should avoid it!
